Cataract Surgery Co-Management

What are Cataracts?

Cataracts are a clouding-over of your eye lens, causing loss of vision. There are three types of cataracts:

  • Subcapsular cataract: forms at the back of the lens
    • Nuclear cataract: forms in the nucleus, or center, of the lens
    • Cortical cataract: forms in the periphery of the lens

The type of cataract you have may affect the symptoms you experience. Symptoms that may indicate you have a cataract include:

  • Blurred vision
    • Sensitivity to the sun
    • Colors look dull

If you notice a change in your vision, especially if you’re over age 40, call Vision care Associates, and Dr. Shily can conduct a thorough evaluation to assess your eye health.
